TOPIC: Text based install from network source
This guide details the steps involved in installing from a local HTTP server.
Installation
- You may choose to test your installation media if you suspect it has been damaged or was not written correctly.
- Select your langauge, press OK.
- Select compatible keyboard type, press OK.
- Select HTTP, press OK.
- Configure detected network adapter, press OK.
- Enter the ipaddress or URL of the server with YDL CD contents as "Web site name: " and the top level directory of the CD contents as "YDL directory: ", press OK.
- Press OK to pass Welcome screen.
- For a new basic install on a system where YDL will be the only operating system,
select "remove all partitions on selected drives and create default layout".
- If this install is on a system with a Linux operating system you wish to replace, select "Remove Linux partitions on selected drives and create default layout".
- If this install is on a system with an operating system you wish to preserve, select "use free space on selected drives and create default layout".
- Following instructions available online, you may create a custom partition layout. {Advanced users ONLY}
- Select the drives (if you have multiple) on which to perform the above actions, and press OK.
- Confirm your changes are correct in the warning dialog.
- You may choose to review and modify the partition layout. {Advanced users ONLY}.
- Default settings are OK for most networks, press OK.
- Select your timezone, press OK.
- Enter a password for the "root" superuser, and proceed next.
- This is the highest level user and has all privileges. Password must be at least 6 chars long.
- (PACKAGE SELECTION)
- Press OK for installation to begin.
- Grab a coffee this could take a while.
- Press reboot when done installation.
- Make any changes necessary to the modules listed in the firstboot screen.
- Press Exit when done.
